LISBON — The blogger read the email at about 11 p.m. on a quiet night in September, the time of day when he usually posts his popular musings about soccer in Portugal.
The message was from Google, Inc. In it, the company — or, more specifically, its lawyers — explained to the blogger, a slight man in his mid-30s, that the Portuguese soccer powerhouse S.L. Benfica had requested that Google hand over his personal details because he had published 13 articles containing confidential club information on a Google-owned platform.
The blogger had discovered the information online after it was revealed in a broader leak of Benfica documents, and had posted articles about it on his blog, O Artista do Dia. In doing so, he had unwittingly become a small part of a larger scandal that had become a major embarrassment for the club.
Benfica counts half of Portugal’s 10 million inhabitants as fans. Twice the champion of Europe and a regular in the Champions League, it is the country’s equivalent of the Dallas Cowboys or Manchester United, only more so. And now it wanted revenge.
Stunned, the blogger struggled to fall asleep after reading the email and its attachment — a subpoena from the United States District Court for the Central District of California. When his wife and two children awoke the next day, he had not slept a wink.
He worried about Benfica’s “unlimited legal support” and about running afoul of the team’s most fanatical supporters, he said in a recent interview. He asked to remain anonymous because he believed he could be in danger.

“They could come to my employer; I don’t know what can happen,” he said, his voice trailing off. Then he quickly added, “My kids — I thought about it all.”
To understand how an unassuming blogger in Portugal ended up staring at a subpoena from a lawsuit in California — and as a pawn in litigation that will turn on the definition of privacy in a technological age — it helps to know how desperate things have become for Benfica since proprietary details about the inner workings of the club emerged last year. Among other things, the leaked documents suggested the club had a plan to influence league and federation officials and even control officiating in top-division matches. Benfica denies any wrongdoing.
Even in normal times, rumors and intrigue about events inside the Estádio de Luz, Benfica’s cavernous stadium and headquarters, dominate the many nightly debate shows on local television and the cover of at least one of Portugal’s three daily sports newspapers. Its rivalries with the country’s other top teams, Sporting and F.C. Porto, are famously fractious; vicious spats between club executives help to feed the daily narrative of fervor in this country.
The most recent trouble began in the spring of 2017 when Porto’s communications director, Francisco Marques, appeared on a team-owned television channel and revealed the inner workings of Benfica gleaned from a cache of club data secretly supplied to him. Then he did it again. And again. To soccer fans and journalists in Portugal, Marques’s weekly revelations about Benfica became must-see television.
About 20 gigabytes worth of internal documents and emails belonging to some of Benfica’s most senior officers had been shared with him anonymously, Marques said. The information presented on his show, “Universo Porto de Bancada,” was wide ranging. It included a Benfica slide show detailing an apparent effort to gain greater influence over federation and league officials, as well as details of how the club spent a large sum of money on a witch doctor from Guinea-Bissau to boost the team’s performances. There were also documents suggesting connections between the club and the men responsible for overseeing refereeing in Portugal.
Marques passed the entire database, which he says he received anonymously, to the police. Then, in December 2017, Benfica emails started to appear on a mysterious website called O Mercado do Benfica, or The Benfica Market. Ever since, the site’s contents have been devoured by local news media and blogs including, though not limited to, O Artista do Dia.

“I think it’s the same person who spoke to me that published the emails,” Marques said in an interview, insisting that neither he nor Porto had paid for the data.
The police are investigating the hack on Benfica’s system, but also the club itself. Law enforcement officials have conducted raids on Benfica’s offices, and last month prosecutors charged the club with corruption after investigators found it had a mole inside the Portuguese judicial system. The official, prosecutors contend, tipped off Benfica about ongoing investigations but also to those involving Porto and Sporting.
The Portuguese soccer federation has started a separate investigation. Benfica’s president, Luis Filipe Vieira, who was named as an arguido, or official suspect, in January over corruption related to his business affairs, has said that the club will defend its reputation “in an uncompromising manner” and that there was “not a single fact, not even circumstantial evidence, that would implicate Benfica.”
Those who have published articles and blogs based on the leaked material argue there is a significant public interest in doing so, given the team’s immense social and cultural importance in Portugal.
Benfica’s view of the leaks is starkly different. In April, the club sued numerous tech companies, including Google, in an attempt to compel them to provide Benfica with confidential information that would help it identify individual bloggers and website owners. In total, Benfica is targeting as many as 100 people.
“Benfica was the victim of a robbery and disclosure of its private correspondence, first by a local television channel linked to a rival club, Futebol Clube do Porto, and, later, in the face of a decision of the court that forbade this disclosure, these emails, many of them distorted, began to be issued by blogs attached to rival clubs,” the team said in a statement.

The club also contends information gleaned from its emails has been “distorted” and “altered,” violating any “public interest or right to information” defense.
Until it sent him details of the subpoena, Google had not been in touch with the blogger to ask him to take down any posts or material that may have breached its guidelines. (He is embroiled in the legal battle because the site that hosts his blog, Blogspot, is owned by Google.) Google’s terms of use warn users against publishing “personal and confidential information.” The company has not revealed his identity to Benfica yet, but it theoretically could if ordered to do so by the court; it declined to comment on the blogger’s case other than to say the company would comply with the law.
Sitting at a table in a cafe at Lisbon’s international airport one recent afternoon, the blogger, known as “John Doe 2” in the California lawsuit, produced a sheaf of documents from a backpack, including copies of blog articles he has posted about Benfica, and the email from Google. It said he had until Oct. 8 to “file a motion to quash” or any other formal objection to the subpoena.
He missed that deadline and is now contemplating his next move. While Benfica has the financial might to engage a team of lawyers, the blogger had not yet secured representation to defend his interests in the United States. That has left him reliant on solely his own efforts; recently, he sent Google an impassioned email pleading with the company not to surrender his personal information to the club.
He acknowledged being a fan of Benfica’s rival Sporting, but he rejected Benfica’s claim that he is part of an organized network conspiring to damage its reputation.
What started out as a late-night hobby, a chance to unwind after putting the kids to bed, is now a significant problem subject to forces he cannot control. He delayed telling his wife about the legal time bomb that dropped into his inbox, preferring to save her from worrying about what Benfica might do, too.
“I believe they want to know my identity so they can intimidate me,” he said. “They are perfectly aware that my blog has nothing to do with any type of illegal access to their data that ended up in the email leakage.”

POSISI PEMAIN DALAM SEPAKBOLA
Setelah mengetahui sejarah sepakbola, marilah kita membahas masalah posisi pemain dalam sepakbola. Pada dasarnya, dalam peraturan sepakbola, dalam tim sepak bola
terdiri dari 1 orang penjaga gawang, 2-4
orang pemain bertahan, (fullbacks), 2-4 orang pemain tengah, dan 1-3 orang
penyerang.
Secara umum….. ada 4 posisi pemain dalam sepak bol, berikut posisi pemain tersebut :
1. Penjaga Gawang
Penjaga gawang adalah satu-satunya
pemain yang boleh menggunakan tangan untuk melindungi gawang dari serangan
lawan. Umumnya, penjaga gawang mengenakan
pakaian yang berbeda dengan pemain lainnya. Pemain bertahan memiliki tugas utama
untuk menghentikan serangan lawan
2. Bek
Bertugas menjaga daerah pertahanan sendiri agar lawan tidak bisa membobol gawang yang dijaga oleh penjaga gawang atau dengan kata lain menghentikan serangan lawan jangan sampai lawan mendekati gawang untuk mencetak gol.3. Gelandang
Untuk
posisi ini mempunyai tugas ganda, yaitu sebagai penyeimbang. Artinya
saat sebuah tim mengawali serangan, seorang gelandang adalah sebagai
penyambung bola dari bek untuk diarahkan ke penyerang, sedangkan waktu diserang seorang gelandang adalah orang pertama yang harus merebut bola dari kaki lawan, sebelum bek.
4. Penyerang
Bertugas
untuk mencetak gol. Untuk posisi ini, seorang pemain harus mempunyai
naluri dan penempatan posisi yang bagus. Penyerang juga harus bisa
memaksimalkan peluang sekecil apapun untuk menjadi sebuah gol. Karena dalam permainan yang sebenarnya, seorang penyerang akan mendapat kawalan dari pemain bertahan lawan.
Tetapi
pada seringkali dalam permainan yang sebenarnya seorang pemain terkadang melakukan
improvisasi, artinya pemain melakukan perubahan posisi yang tidak sesuai
dengan posisi aslinya untuk membantu serangan atau pertahanan, dan itu salah satu bentut takti dan strategi dalam sepakbola .
Hal ini sah-sah saja dilakukan tetapi yang perlu diperhatikan adalah
segera kembali ke posisi semula setelah melakukan improvisasi, karena akan mengacaukan permainan dan formasi pemain yang telah diatur oleh pelatih dan juga dapat menguras tenaga pemain.Sebenarnya secara spesifik ada 7 posisi dalam permainan sepak bola :1. Bek Sayap
Bertugas
menjaga daerah pertahanan sendiri di sisi (pinggir) lapangan. Seorang
bek sayap biasanya melakukan improvisasi ikut membantu serangan menyisir
sisi lapangan.
2. Stoper
Bertugas
menjaga daerah pertahanan sendiri di sentral daerah pertahanan. Tugas
utama seorang stoper adalah merebut bola atau pressing-pressing kepada
pemain lawan yang coba memasuki daerah pertahanan sendiri.
3. Libero
Bertugas
menjaga daerah pertahanan sendiri di sentral daerah pertahanan. Seorang
libero adalah pemain terakhir sebelum penjaga gawang. Tugas utama
seorang libero adalah membaca arah serangan lawan dan mengorganisir
rekannya di daerah pertahanan. Seorang libero dan stoper sering
melakukan improvisasi dengan maju kedepan gawang lawan saat sepak pojok
atau tendangan bola-bola mati.
4. Gelandang Bertahan
Bertugas
sebagai penyeimbang lini tengah sebuah tim. Artinya seorang gelandang
bertahan bertugas merebut bola dari kaki lawan sebelum lawan meamasuki
daerah pertahanan, selain itu gelandang bertahan juga sebagai penyambung
bola dari bek untuk diarahkan kedepan dalam mengawali serangan.
5. Gelandang Serang
Bertugas
membantu serangan. Artinya seorang gelandang serang bertugas memberikan
umpan kepada penyerang atau juga bisa melakukan pergerakan-pergerakan
tanpa/dengan bola memasuki daerah pertahanan lawan dengan tujuan untuk
mencetak gol.
6. Second Striker
Tugas utama seorang Second striker adalah
tetap sebagai pencetak gol. Tetapi ada sedikit pembeda tugas yang
diemban seorang second striker. Pemain ini sekaligus juga bertugas untuk
melakukan pergerakan-pergerakan yang sifatnya membongkar pertahanan
lawan dengan tujuan memecah konsentrasi pemain bertahan lawan.
7. Striker Murni
Sebagai
target man atau pencetak gol utama. Seorang striker murni biasanya
hanya menunggu umpan-umpan matang dan menyelesaikannya dengan tendangan
kegawang.

* Lapangan permainan
Ukuran lapangan standar
Lapangan yang digunakan biasanya adalah lapangan rumput yang berbentuk
persegi empat. Dengan panjang 91.4 meter dan lebar 54.8 meter. Pada kedua sisi
pendek, terdapat gawang sebesar 24 x 8 kaki, atau 7,32 x 2,44 meter.
* Lama permainan
Lama permainan sepak bola normal adalah 2×45 menit, ditambah istirahat selama
15 menit (kadang-kadang 10 menit). Jika kedudukan sama imbang, maka diadakan
perpanjangan waktu selama 2×15 menit, hingga didapat pemenang, namun jika sama
kuat maka diadakan adu penalti.
– Lama permainan standar
Sebuah pertandingan dewasa yang standar terdiri dari dua babak yang
masing-masing sepanjang 45 menit. Umumnya terdapat masa istirahat 15 menit di
antara kedua babak tersebut. Jika pertandingan selama 90 menit berakhir seri, maka untuk menentukan pemenangnya bisa melalui perpanjangan waktu 2 x 15 menit dan pinalti. Hingga belum lama ini,
IFAB telah mencoba menggunakan beberapa bentuk dari sistem ‘sudden death’, namun sekarang sudah tidak diggunakan lagi.
Jika hasil pertandingannya masih imbang setelah perpanjangan waktu, beberapa kejuaraan internasional mempergunakan cara adu penalti untuk menentukan sang pemenang, tetapi ada juga kejuaraan
lainnya yang mengharuskan pertandingan tersebut untuk diulangi kembali.
Perlu diperhatikan bahwa gol yang dicetak sewaktu babak perpanjangan waktu
ikut dihitung ke dalam hasil akhir, berbeda dari gol yang dihasilkan dari titik
penalti yang hanya digunakan untuk menentukan pemenang pertandingan.
– Percobaan penggunaan gol emas dan gol perak
Pada akhir 1990-an, IFAB mencoba membuat pertandingan lebih mungkin berakhir
tanpa memerlukan adu penalti, yang sering dianggap sebagai cara yang kurang
tepat untuk mengakhiri pertandingan.
Contohnya adalah sistem gol perak yang mengakhiri pertandingan jika sebuah
gol dicetak pada perpanjangan waktu pertama, dan gol emas yang mengakhiri

JAKARTA (Reuters) – The front-runner to become Indonesia’s new president, Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, has told investors that he will pursue market-friendly policies and make bureaucratic reform and infrastructure-building his priorities.
Jokowi presented a pro-reform platform for Southeast Asia’s largest economy as investment cools and the country faces hefty budget and current account deficits.
“Investors should be given enough room to broaden their investments,” Jokowi told a crowd of domestic and foreign investors at an event late on Wednesday in Jakarta’s business district.
The event, held on the day the presidential campaign officially began, was the first time Jokowi presented his economic program in public. He spoke with fund managers at a closed door meeting last month.
On July 9, Indonesians will choose either Jokowi, the Jakarta governor, or ex-general Prabowo Subianto as president, to succeed Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who completes the allowed two, five-year terms in October.
Jokowi’s rise to become Jakarta governor and common touch made him an early favorite. But he faces a formidable challenge from Prabowo, who emerged as a serious contender after securing the backing of the country’s second biggest party Golkar last month.
Opinion polls show Jokowi is still ahead, but one recent survey indicated up to 40 percent of voters remain undecided.
Prabowo is seen as presenting a more nationalistic vision of the Indonesian economy. Indonesia’s stock market and the rupiah fell on news that parties backing Prabowo won a slightly bigger share of votes in the April 9 parliamentary poll than pro-Jokowi parties.
In Jokowi’s talk on Wednesday, he was less vague than earlier on his economic policies, but he gave no specifics on matters like how he would finance ports he wants to build.
The candidate’s proposal to simplify bureaucratic procedures for investment was welcomed by Sofjan Wanandi, the chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association.
“He is saying exactly what we need,” said Wanandi. “Cut all the red tape and lower the high costs like logistics to make (Indonesian) products more competitive. We hope he wins so he can implement these ideas.”
BALLOONING FUEL BILL
Jokowi’s team says that as president, he would address the pressing issue of Indonesia’s ballooning fuel subsidy bill, which currently leaves little budget money left for much-needed infrastructure projects.
“We’re facing a fiscal time bomb,” Fauzi Ichsan, head of Jokowi’s banking and finance advisory team, told Reuters.
“Among other options, Jokowi is considering gradually raising fuel prices and phasing out subsidies over the next four years.”
Ichsan said there is no plan to revise a law that caps the fiscal deficit at 3 percent of gross domestic product “so it’s implied that reform of the energy sector and the fuel subsidies will have to happen.”
Both Prabowo and Jokowi will travel widely in the next month to woo more than 186 million voters across the archipelago. Online campaigns are already under way and have been marked by mudslinging from both camps.
The official campaign period will end July 5, when a quiet period will be enforced by the election commission before the July 9 voting.
